3) HAVING A READER WORK WITH YOU

When you record your scene, you should speak to the reader, and not look directly into the camera.

The reader should be located to the right of the camera when you are looking at the camera. The camera height should be between the reader’s chest and shoulder level. When you are recording the scene you should be speaking to the reader. Do not look directly into the camera lens.

The reader should be heard quietly in the background when you playback your recording. They are a guide to help you with speed and an inspiration for the words you are saying and listening to - but the reader’s voice should never be as loud or louder than yours.

Remember that the person who stands closer to the camera microphone will always be louder, so your reader may have to adjust their volume to fit the room, the camera position and how far away you are standing from the camera.
